The rules for using WoWUI. Last updated 1 September 2026. Using the app or the site means these apply.

The same rules are in the app under Settings → About, so they can be read without a browser. The two are kept in step by hand and are worded differently; where they ever say different things, this page is the newer one.

The short version

WoWUI is a tool for sharing World of Warcraft interface setups. It never copies AddOn code — a shared UI names the AddOns it needs and carries the settings, and installing stays with whoever publishes them. Everything that happens on your own PC is free and needs no account. Nothing is on sale at the moment.

Who may use it

Anything on your own PC needs no account and no age. For an account you must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live, and at least 16 — or have the agreement of whoever is responsible for you. Premium, when it is on sale, is bought through Patreon, whose own age rules apply on top.

What you may use it for

Anything to do with your own game. Export your setup, import somebody else's, keep restore points, publish a UI for other players. There is no per-seat licence and no limit on how many characters or installations you use it with.

What you may not do: publish somebody else's work as your own, upload anything you do not have the right to share, use the service to distribute software or files unrelated to a World of Warcraft interface, or attempt to reach data belonging to other accounts.

What you publish stays yours

Listing a UI on Explore does not transfer anything to us. You keep whatever rights you had. You grant only what running the service needs: permission to store your package and pictures, to show them to people browsing Explore, and to let them download the package.

That permission ends when you remove the listing. Copies other people already downloaded are files on their own disks and are beyond anybody's reach, including ours.

A shared UI carries settings, not AddOns. It also carries whatever your settings files happen to contain — check them before publishing if you keep notes, names or anything private in them.

What we may remove

A listing that breaks the rules above, on report or on our own notice. Reports go through the app; they name a reason and are not shown to the person reported.

Removal takes down the listing. It does not touch anything on your own PC — your files, your backups and your exported packages are yours and stay where they are.

Paying

There is nothing to pay for at the moment: Premium is switched off and cannot be bought, so every account is on the free limits. The rest of this section describes what would apply if it comes back. It is left standing rather than deleted, so that the terms you agreed to do not change shape the day it does.

Premium is a monthly membership handled by Patreon, who take the payment and add the VAT of the country you are in. We never see a card number. What we receive is the fact that a membership is active, which is what raises your account's limits.

Cancel at Patreon whenever you like; the membership runs to the end of the period you paid for and then your account returns to the free limits. Nothing is deleted when that happens — what you have already stored stays, and what changes is whether you can add more.

Your right to withdraw

If you are a consumer in the EU you have fourteen days to withdraw from the membership, without giving a reason. That period starts when the membership does.

The one thing that can end it early is a digital service you asked to start immediately: the right lapses only if you expressly asked for that and acknowledged that you were giving the right up. The checkout runs at Patreon, so whether you were asked those two questions is part of their flow, not ours.

Rather than argue about which of those applies to you: write to support@wowui.app within the fourteen days and you get the money back, whether or not the right had technically lapsed. Cancelling at Patreon stops future payments; it is not itself a withdrawal, so say so in the mail if that is what you mean.

What Patreon holds about you, and what reaches us from them, is on the Privacy page. We never see a card number.

Backups, and the limits of them

WoWUI takes a backup before every import and every restore, without exception, and it writes only inside the WoW installation you selected. That is a real safety net and it is tested.

It is not a replacement for your own backups. The app writes into folders that other programs — the game itself, AddOn managers, sync tools — also write into, and no tool can undo what another one did afterwards. Keep a copy of anything you would be sorry to lose.

What we do not promise

The service is provided as it is. We do not promise it is available at any particular time, that Explore holds any particular UI, or that a shared setup will suit your characters — a UI is somebody else's taste, and taste does not transfer.

Nothing here limits liability for damage caused deliberately or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, or anything else that cannot be limited under Austrian law.

Ending it

Stop using it whenever you like — uninstalling takes nothing away, and your backups and exports are ordinary files that stay on your disk. To delete your account and everything stored with it, write to support@wowui.app.

We may close an account that repeatedly breaks the rules above. If you have paid, the unused part of what you paid comes back.

Changes

These terms change when the app does. The date at the top says when last; a change that affects what you have paid for is announced in the app before it takes effect.
